Why groups vs fan pages? At least with the Fan Page your updates show up in the newsfeed. Groups, your message gets lost. I too was not happy with non-ability to message Fans who have registered for an event – this seems to be a fatal flaw!

Thank you for the heads up. I was not aware that an event did not have a messaging feature. I had assumed that as the event co-ordinator I would have that ability in case there was a last minute time or venue change that needed to be announced. Definitely going to have to rethink some strategies!
